Amberly Kahapea is a ceramic artist born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii where the lush landscapes and vibrant cultures of her surroundings influence her work. Kahapea will graduate in May, 2026 with a BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art & Design.

Their work is both hand-building and wheel-throwing, making sculptural and functional work. Drawing from her mixed heritage, culture, and environment, Kahapea incorporates traditional Polynesian patterns, textures inspired by natural elements, as well as common and endangered animals and plants into her pieces. These come together, each reflecting a part of her personal journey. Frequently returning to Oahu to inform her ceramic practice with a tactile approach, forms and inspires surfaces that invite a deeper connection to the natural world through the language of material and interactivity.
